why do we need to spend a turn to "select" our starting card when there is no choice to be made?

I think it is useful to see what card is going to be covered up, but if there were a way to hover and see what had been there that might be helpful. Although I guess you can actually just go look at someone else's line up to see, so yeah maybe it isn't necessary to confirm just put it in the log and be done with it.

I think it's helpful, it let's you differentiate from the Light-speed version.
Anyway, it's just one turn. If it was something that happens more than once per game, it would be annoying.

I think this confirmation is needed as long as deployed cards cannot be displayed.
If deployed cards could be displayed, then this confirmation would be replaced by an highlighted frame around the starting card until the end of your first turn.

I don't feel too passionate about putting effort into removing something somewhat useful, to save minimal amount of time. I am considering rejecting this suggestion.

Or I can merge it into the purchase confirmation option. If someone opts out of purchase confirmations, they would opt out from this one as well. I assume the audience of these feature are mostly overlapping.

Don't you have to select that option at the beginning of the game anyway? That'd basically replace clicking the card with clicking the option radio button instead, right?
